OUTC Itinerary – Semester 1 2017

Wed 22th Feb OUSAs Clubs and Societies Day – 10am-3pm

Fri 24th Feb First tramping club meeting – 12.30-1.30pm, Otago Room, Clubs and Societies building, Albany St.

Tues 28th Feb Second Tramping Club meeting –  5-6pm, Otago Room, Clubs and  Socs Building. Meetings will continue every Tuesday and Friday until the end of Semester (meetings are not compulsory, they’re for people to sign up, rent gear or come have a chat to us)

Tues 28th Feb Paradise pre-meet at 7pm, Burns 2 Lecture Theatre. Paradise is our first club trip of the year, to the Routeburn region.  You must go to this meeting to get a place on the trip

Thurs 2nd March OUTC Thursday Night Rock Climbing will start up! This is a social night for people who already know how to rock climb to meet up with other rock climbers in the club. A Rockcraft Course will happen later on in the year for those who want to learn how to Rock Climb 🙂

Fri 3rd March 5:30pm – Sun 5th March (evening) Paradise weekend. An awesome weekend away in Paradise (yes this is the actual name of the place!). Go on a day trip on Saturday, return to camp for a cooking competition and late night festivities. Wake up not very early Sunday and swim in beautiful Lake Sylvan before heading back to Dunedin via Queenstown. *To go on this trip you must attend Pre-meet on Tuesday.*

 Tues 7th March – OUTC Happy Hour will start up! 6pm at The Bog. Discounted beer and free hot chips

 Wed 8th MarchBivouac Gear Buy Night at 6.00-8.00pm. Meet at Bivouac Outdoor on George St (just north of the Octagon), and make sure to bring your membership card to get 25% off tramping/climbing gear. A  great opportunity to get good quality gear at a discounted price (plus spot prizes will be given out, yay free stuff!)

Thurs 9th March River Crossing Course. There will be a River Crossing Course on Paradise (on Sunday) but for all those that can’t go on Paradise, on Thurs evening we will run another River Crossing Course in the Taieri River at Outram Glen. Free. Must attend one of the River Crossing Courses to go to Fiordland*

Tues 14th March Fiordland Tramp Pre-meet– 7.00pm, Burns 2 Lecture Theatre. You must go to this if you want to come on our epic Fiordland Trip

Fri 17th March evening- Sun 19th MarchFiordland weekend tramp – Amazing and often challenging weekend tramp somewhere in the northern part of stunning Fiordland National Park, centred on Milford Sound. See glaciers, mountain parrots (kea) and stunning bush. Trips to suit all experience levels. Must attend the pre-meet on Tues and have done our River Crossing Course

Makoroa Trip – (First Semester, dates to be arranged)*

Sat 13th May – TWALK – A super fun 24hr orienteering event hosted by CUTC*

OUTC Clothing – You can buy OUTC T-shirts, jumpers, fleeces, hats, shorts and underwear. Come to our meetings to try out sizes and order them
