TWALK 2019 Dates

Kia Ora to all you outdoorsy souls,

Does the prospect of adventure, epic costumes, all the food you can eat, competition and some of the best 24hours of your life appeal?? Well lucky for you, the great folk up at the Canterbury Uni Tramping Club are putting on their infamous 24 hour orienteering event for the 53rd year in a row and they’ve kindly reserved 50 spots for OUTC to fill up another rowdy bus with! We’ll send out more info closer to the time but for the meanwhile I’ve compiled a few FAQ’s for y’all.

What on earth is TWALK? Read this —> https://twalk.nz/event-information/\ When? 18th/19th of May Cost? $75 for student entry fee (worth it in food alone) + bus travel cost (tbc) Teams? 2-8 people, would recommend at least 4. Majority of the team should be OUTC members also, though we recognize some teams will have non-students.  How competitive is this? Your team can be as competitive or social as you like. There are some absolute human machines out there that won’t sleep a wink and then there’s Ruby and I who last year completed the compulsory first leg and spent the remaining hours inhaling curry and muffins in the hash house while the rest of our team braved the dark. You’ll have a great time regardless, can confirm. How do I sign up for such a legendary event? General sign ups open on the 18th of April, but we’re not included in this as we have 50 reserved spaces. We’ll be releasing a first come first served form where you’ll sign up your team and the date for that will be out soon!

Final note: you’ll sign up as a team, and pay as a team. Your spot will not be confirmed until your team has paid and if someone in your group can’t make it you’ll need to find a replacement. If you really want to come but don’t have a team, go to happy hour on Tuesdays and convince some pals to join you!
