Muesli Mag - Semester 2 2017



Wed 12th July – OUSAs Clubs and Societies Day – 10am-3pm.

Fri 14th July – First tramping club meeting – 12.30-1.30pm, Otago Room, Clubs and Societies building, Albany St.

Tues 18th July – Second Tramping Club meeting – 5-6pm, Otago Room, Clubs and Socs Building. Meetings will continue every Tuesday and Friday until the end of Semester (meetings are not compulsory, they’re for people to sign up, rent gear or come have a chat to us).

Tues 18th July – Bushball pre-meet 7pm, Burns 2 Lecture Theatre. You must go to this meeting to go on Bushball.

Wed 19th July 6-8pm – Bivouac Outdoor Gear Buy Night. Meet at Bivouac Outdoor on George St (just north of the Octagon), and make sure to bring your membership card to get 25% off tramping/climbing gear. A great opportunity to get good quality gear at a discounted price (plus spot prizes will be given out, yay free stuff!).

Fri 21st July 5:30pm – Sun 23rd July (evening) – BUSHBALL. The Tramping Club version of a ball. The Ball will be located in Mt Aspiring Hut, in the beautiful Matukituki Valley on Saturday evening. There will be drink stops and games on the walk into the hut, a sit down dinner and then an evening of dancing, dress up and more drinks. *Spaces are limited for this trip so you must attend Pre-meet on Tuesday to go*.

Tues 25th July – OUTC Happy Hour will start up every Tuesday night! 6pm at The Bog. Discounted bear and free hot chips. Great place to catch up with friends and plan your next tramping trip.

Fri 11th eveningSunday 13th August – SNOWCRAFT COURSE. An introduction on snow skills, such as the use of ice axes, crampons and basic avalanche awareness. A great opportunity to learn skills that will allow you to go tramping in the snow and/or start a new interest in mountaineering. This will be held at Awakino Ski Field.*

Fri 25th – Mon 28th Aug – COPLAND HOT POOLS TRIP. A tramping trip to natural hot pools on the remote West Coast under snow-capped mountains, what could get better!?*

Date tba – ROCKCRAFT COURSE – An introduction into rock climbing, where you’ll learn the basic ropes and techniques and have a go up some of Dunedin’s Beach crags. If you are already a climber, then get in touch, if we have enough interest we’ll run a rock climbing trip out to Wanaka or Queenstown *.

Date tba – CONSERVATION WEEKEND IN THE SILVERPEAKS – Weekend tramping trip in the Silverpeaks and doing some volunteer work for DOC up there*.
